2017 In Review and 2018 Art Goals

As far as I'm concerned, 2017 was an excellent year for art! I completed 9 pieces in total (5 colored pencil and 4 acrylic paintings). However, something I think is more important than the number of paintings I created is, I am very happy with what I created this year.

Although I love to paint and draw I'm not always pleased with what I'm creating and end up abandoning it instead of pushing through the boredom. So this last year, having liked 9 pieces enough to finish them was a huge accomplishment for me!

For 2018 I've decided to give myself the goal of completing 26 paintings or drawings. Although this number might seem a little high since I only completed 9 this year, I think it could be managable while also giving me a bit of a challenge.

Thanks to my university art classes over the last couple months I've learned how to complete artwork quite a bit faster than before so I think this will be a fun challenge to test those skills. It'll also, hopefully, encourage me to keep working and push through paintings that I lose interest in.

So far in 2018 I've finished one painting I'm absolutely in love with! For quite a while I've wanted to paint hot air balloons underwater and I'm very happy I finally put my idea onto canvas!

Hopefully you had a great art year in 2017 and are just excited to keep creating in 2018!
